Almost Summer Time!!

Well we have 2 day so of school left....and I'm sure they will creep by. Looking forward to spending the summer with Hunter and Clint. Clint won't be working as much, just doing maintence.  I won't be working a lot either doing Cougar Den Summer Program.

This summer we will celebrate Hunter's 1st birthday! Wait...did I just say 1st birthday? This year has honestly flown by.  I have loved every minute of being a mommy.  Even thru last night feedings, sleepless nights.  Hunter has started to crawl....well army crawl. He pulls himself with his arms and scoots his legs. He claps his hands. Loves the game of peek-a-boo.  Hunter has 2 teeth, and some peach fuzz finally coming in.

Here are some pictures from the last 1 1/2 month.....

Standing up in the pack n play. He didn't pull himself up...He wouldn't let me sit him down. This is how he ended up.

He has learned how to pull down the bumper and look out of his crib. Cutest thing ever!

Is it Spring yet?!

So we had a two days of AMAZING weather....shorts, and flip flop kinda of weather. It was great. Hunter wore shorts and no shoes for 2 days, and spent a lot of the time outside.  Then it decided to rain for 2 days and get cold. I really wish the weather would make it's mind up. I'm ready for some warm weather!!

Hunter is 9 months old. I've started planning his first birthday party in my head. I think we might do a Semese Street themed party.  He dominates eating baby food.  He likes everything but peas and green beans. When I try to feed them to him, I get a pea or green bean shower!!  He doesn't like the mixed foods...meat medly, vegggie medly. But I did buy a breakfast granola cinnamon jar of baby food. He kinda likes it.  I also bought a jar of peaches...he loves them!! He can grab Gerber puffs with his fingers and shove them into his mouth.

This past week my mom was out of town and Clint was painting my parents cabinets white. They turned out great. But while we were over there I gave Hunter a marshmellow to suck on....that was the biggest stickiest mess ever!! But he loved it. He also like brownies, mashed potatoes, ice cream and carrots from the table.

Here are some pictures from the past couple weeks:

Daddy's boy

Hunter has become more and more of a daddy's boy. I could be holding him and he will reach for Clint. Clint will give him to me and he will start crying and reaching for Clint. He gets so excited when Clint gets home from work, or leaves the room and comes back. But there is one thing that I still do, I get to put the precious boy to sleep every night! For some reason he fights and squirms with Clint while going to sleep. With me he just lays his head on my shoulder and goes to sleep! Here's a picture of them together looking at the fish aquarium at Bass Pro Shops....

Almost 9 months

Sitting up with a book, a polo, and shoes...time please STOP!!

Decided to ship him off! JK!

Swinging at the park...he loves it!

8 month old picture with his tongue out...of course!
This is how Clint plans on taking Hunter turkey hunting!
It's hard to belive that Hunter will be 9 months old in less than 2 weeks. I still want that cuddling, snuggling little boy that I had 9 months ago. But I guess he has to grow up sometime. I can't even remember what I blogged about last time. But he is eating more baby foods. He likes everything but green beans. I've tried mixing with everything and even plain. I give him a spoonful, he gets the taste in his mouth, and spits them right back out. He is still drinking about 4 oz after every feeding. He also love Gerber Puffs. "Santa Clause" left sweet potatoe puffs in his stocking. He just finished the whole can.  He is able to pinch them between his finger and thumb and stuff them into his mouth. It's actually pretty cute of him doing it.  A couple weeks ago, I took Hunter to the park to swing. He absolutely loved it!!  I must say...he loves being outside. Which Clint loves, since Clint believes he is taking Hunter turkey hunting in a couple weeks. He has practiced how he can sit with Hunter and shoot a turkey.

A week ago, Hunter was diagnosed with RSV. As a first time mom, I freaked out a little bit. The doctor said his case wasn't bad, but to continue to watch him and if the wheezing or shortness of breath out bad, so bring him back in. He has gotten better, but at times he wheezes more than usual.  Hunter and I spent many nights on the couch, or just walking around the house. He wouldn't let me lay down, or sit down with him. As soon as I thought he was sound asleep on my shoulder, I would go to sit down and he would wake up. Finally got him to sleep in his crib the past two nights. I had been putting him on his back, but I tried doing the stomach again, and he sleeps better.

A few weekends ago, my mother in law came down to keep Hunter overnight. The first time I was leaving my baby overnight. I was nervous, but excited to get to spend some time with Clint. We had gone to Lexington for the night. We stayed at the Hilton by Lexington Green, ate a Tony Roma's, then went to Comedy Off Broadway to see Etta May. She was so funny. I laughed the whole time.  By the time the show was over, us old folks (Clint and I) were exhausted and went to bed at like 11. Saturday morning we went to Babies-R-Us. I could spend countless hours walking around and dreaming about so many things that I want. We got Hunter diapers, wipes and some summer clothes.  We also had to get some sleepers, because he is so long, he is out growing all his sleepers.

Clint went to the grocery a couple weeks ago and came home with front facing carseat...WHAT?! When did Hunter get big enough for one of those.  Well he isn't quite ready for it.  The law is 20 lbs AND a year.  But we went ahead and bought it.  It will last him till he is 80 lbs.  In his baby carseat his long skinny legs are basically in the back of the seat already.  He is 2 lbs shy of being able to sit in it.  We might try it out for a little bit.

First Sickness

Well we made it 7 months before Hunter got his first sickness. He had the beginnings of an ear infection. He woke up Sunday morning with gunky eyes.  No fever, just gunky eyes. He ate fine, slept fine, played fine, not fussy.  I had a sorority sister who has a little boy younger than Hunter who had the same symptoms.  Took him to the doctor thinking it was pink eye. But it turned out to be an ear infection.  I decided to do the same with Hunter.  I have changed doctors with Hunter. I was going to my family doctor, but decided to start going to the pedatric doctor.  So far we've only been once, but I loved it.  As soon as I filled out my paper work, they called me back, and I was in the room about 10 minutes when the doctor came in. Looked in his ears and decided to start him on medicine.  Hunter LOVES the medicine.  I think because it smells like bananas.  Maybe it tastes like bananas and Hunter loves bananas.

I took a sick day to take him to the doctor...pull in the driveway and my phone rings. It was the secretary at work. She was calling to tell me that the state was there to do their yearly inspection.  I was ready to scream!!!  Not my typical Valentines Day. A sick baby and the state coming.

But this picture makes it all better....

Solid Foods

So Hunter is 6.5 months old.... :o( (Time please stop). He has completely been weened off nursing. I just wasn't producing enough to satisfy him. I lasted 6.5 months...I give myself props!  He has taken well to formula and also solid foods.  There are some solid foods that I can't feed him fast enough, then there are others that take him a day or so to eat.

He LOVES aka can't feed him fast enough:
    1. Sweet Potatoes
    2. Bananas
    3. Squash
    4. Peas

Foods that take him a day or so to like:
   1. Applesauce
   2. Green Beans
   3. Carrots
   4. Apple-Strawberry-Banana mixture

He does not like any type of cereal.  I've tried barley, whole wheat. I bought some oatmeal today and going to try and mix in some formula and a fruit. I've heard that mixing cereal with some type of fruit will help Hunter like it more.

He's sleeping through the night....but some nights I spend the night on the couch with him.  He just fights sleep so bad, that it's hard to just let him cry it out. I have yet to let him cry it out. I don't think I ever will....no matter what the doctor, books, or magazine say.  I would just rather spoil him and hold him.

He's teething. He will chew on anything you give him.  I've been noticing that he will chew on my shoulder when I pick him up.  I hope this doesn't lead to biting.

That's all the updating I have for now!

Is winter over yet?!

So we have 3-5 inches of snow on the ground. I don't want to get out and measure it, but I trust the weather man. For once he was right this time.  Yesterday, every school within a 20 miles radius of Danville got out early because of the predicted snow fall. Well Danville didn't get out early, but all after school activies were cancelled.  I got the joy of calling all my after school kids parents and let them know that we were closing at 4:00 and not 5:30 like normal. I was scared I would be there till 5:30 anyways with a parent not knowing. But actually was only there is 4:30.  I was happy, because by the time 5:30 rolled around, several inches of snow on the ground and roads were very slick.

Hunter was at my mom's for the day and since I got off work early, I just left him there so Clint and I could go to the grocery store. Yes, we are the crazies who go to the grocery store with the threat of snow.  But this time, snow was already on the ground, but we had nothing to eat at the house!  Kroger wasn't that bad at all. We were able to get in and out quickly.  On the way to my parents for dinner and to pick up Hunter, we saw a car that had slid off the road, and then a box truck that had flipped over in the median. It was really scary.

While at my parents house for my mom's birthday dinner....I got the exciting text message from WKYT and then the phone call from Uncle Chuck, that school was closed today.  I enjoy snow days because I get to cuddle with Hunter, but then again I don't like them because we have to make them up when it's pretty outside.  Hopefully this is the last of the winter weather...o wait just saw the weather for this week and more snow on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday....WILL IT EVER END!?!?

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

6 months

Hard to belive that Hunter is 6 months old already. Took him to the dr. yesterday for his 6 month shots. He is 15.5 lbs and 27 inches long. Looks like I'm going to have long lean boy on my hands. He took the shots like a champ.  Luckly we don't have to go back for more shots till he is 1.

6 month old picture

Hunter has learned how to drink out of a cup....and he gets mad when there is no more water left in it.
Last time I posted we had started feeding Hunter some baby foods.  He loves peas, sweet potatoes, and pears.  At my mom's last week he ate a whole jar of peas and then at the sitters he ate an almost whole jar of sweet potatoes.  I'm glad he is enjoying so many foods. I think I'll try applesauce or something like that.  He is drinking formula really well.

After eating sweet potatoes...covered head to toe!!

Is it really 2011?!

So the new year has arrived. Clint, Hunter and I rang in the new year in our sleep. We were in the bed asleep by 1030.  Sucks growing up. I remember last year we were up until 2am celebrating.  I can't believe that it's 2011 already. Where did last year go?!  This year will be a year of firsts.  Clint and I will be married for one year on May 8th, Hunter's first birthday on July 12th, and then all the firsts of Hunter saying words, crawling, walking...O MY!!

We have started Hunter on some foods.  He likes bananas.  I tried feeding him peas last night and he was not interested.  He does great nursing and with a bottle.  But I will be starting him soon on formula.  I'm running out of frozen milk and pumping is hard to do when he wants to nurse.  I've been giving him some formula bottles and drinks them like it is the last bottle he will ever have.

Looking forward to a great 2011 with family and friends!
